The tag detects the session and docks a punchout panel next to your cart. punchout.dev reads the line items from the cart page.

One transfer from the browser to the return URL. Approval and PO continue there.

punchout.dev hosts the script, your buyer settings and the session. The panel sends your cart page to punchout.dev once, where a model reads the line items; the order message itself goes from the buyer's browser to the buyer's system. Sessions and their carts expire after four hours.
